She was predeceased by : her parents, Gervase Ripperger and Esther Konrad Ripperger her husband Wayne Schurman and her son Marty. Linda is survived by her son, Ryan (Elise) Lacona grandchildren, Adelaide, Matthias, Emaline, and Dominic sister, Teresa Johnston and her grand puppies, Dexter and Rocky. Linda was especially proud of her niece, Angie, for supporting the final months of her mom Lila's life. She enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and continued her tradition of saying "yes" to any of their wishes. Many were fortunate to receive a dated card or letter. Linda loved all her family and cared for them dearly. She tended to her parent’s garden which translated into her later years at her Johnston residence. As a fair skinned Italian, she would compete with her niece to be the first to get the most sun in the spring. You could find her walking family dogs Spud, Keola, Tom, Jerry, and many others. Outside of the home she loved to be where it was warm. She would never shy away from an opportunity to say yes to her son but equally important for her was to care for stray or orphaned cats. From that point on she worked many jobs as a single parent doing all to support her small family. Her course was soon changed when she gave birth to her only son, Ryan. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. Throughout this time, she lived with her first of many cats, Jo Joe. Ballard, 77, of Lacona, died November 12, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Linda worked at the downtown Younkers early on before finding a career at the Postal Service. Linda would often be found returning pop bottles at the five and dime to get her daily dose of sugar. She particularly enjoyed circus peanuts and root beer barrels as years went on, but she was always making a trip to the candy shop. "Minnie" as named by her younger sister Lou Ann, was the first and last to anything sweet. Growing up in a large family she was equated to be best known for her free spirit, care for animals, and love for nature. Anthony's Catholic Church and graduating from Lincoln High School. Linda was born on October 3rd, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa to her loving parents Frank and Lila (Orbon) Lacona. All adopters must live within 500 miles of Lacona, NY. She took her last breaths surrounded by family after fighting terminal illness for many years. Linda Marie Lacona passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 28th.
